Artist's Comments

This is my first try at a landscape with my new camera and it's my first ever long exposure at night.

I think I picked a pretty challenging subject for my first attempt. It's the Zagreb Avenue. If you'll ever be visiting Zagreb and you happen to be coming from the West, this is the road you'll be driving on.

I have to say, the picture is pretty different from what I imagined it to be when the idea first came to my mind. I think a wider lens would have done this picture more justice but I only have my 18-135 so...

The flowers in the middle are really something you don't see on a lot of highways so I tried to focus the concept on them.

Anyways, I'm anxious to hear any comments and especially criticism! Is there anything you think I should have done differently? Be honest, I'm trying to learn here :-)

By the way, I personally think this picture rocks just the way it is :-D

I love how the traffic lights turned out. The color is great on my LCD, hope it looks good on regular monitors too. I don't have a remote trigger so I used the timer set to 5 seconds. It was very difficult to time it just right when there was traffic going both ways. It was Sunday evening so there wasn't that much traffic anyway.

___________________

There was a lot of post work with the colors. No manipulation, this is how it looks like in real life. But the lamps on the highway have yellow lights and that really killed any white balance measuring in my camera. So I had to level out different sections to get it back to normal.

Very nice.

Good job!

in second look i can see that the WB mayte be a little wrong...the white lights are a little bit purple...
but the composition is sooo great!

you're totally right, i can see it now too! i'm a little bit color blind when it comes to those colors. and reds. and greens sometimes. :-D hm... do you think i should go and try to change that or leave it as it is?

i'm glad you like the composition, it took me 15 minutes to decide on the right angle. :)

i wish i could have exposed the trees by the road a little bit more but then i would have overexposed the flowers. the lighting was really uneven.

e, jebiga sad, ti ga isto nadjes :-D

you know what, maybe i should have. i've never used it before so it didn't even occur to me. but, to be honest, i don't like the HDR photos i've seen so far. they all look too artificial and too photoshopped.
